Basseterre, St. Kitts, November 23, 2018 (SKNIS): Small businesses in St. Kitts are encouraged to tap into the tourism industry as there are many opportunities to make a viable living, said Public Relations Manager of the St. Kitts Tourism Authority, Saju Ng’alla, during an airing of “Working for You” on November 21.

“The one thing about tourism is that it is an easy doorway in when it comes to small businesses,” said Mr. Ng’alla. “We encourage small businesses to come in and do what you can to make that money. I used to work for a VC PR Firm so I know all about venture capital and profit. It’s vital to a successful business.”

The public relations manager said that there are a number of small unique businesses that have already tapped into the industry and have been widely successful. Some of these businesses offer a variety of services such as segway tours, zip line adventures and vegan food restaurants.

Wellness is another area that persons can tap into, said Mr. Ng’alla. He stated that persons from other countries consider the Caribbean to be an excellent getaway to relax from their stressful jobs. Small businesses can capitalize on this by offering a range of rest and rejuvenation services, he said.

Enhancing the tourism product is extremely important, noted the public relations manager, adding that one of the reasons why there is a high spend in St. Kitts is that there are a lot of activities tourists can participate in.

“The demand is there. So we need to have the services and products to meet that demand.”
