The process to revoke the US Visa of Former Prime Minister of St.Kitts-Nevis Dr. Denzil Douglas was a gradual process. This according to American Officials as reported by noted Caribbean Journalist Ken Richards of WINN FM news based in St.Kitts.

According to reports the VISA of the former Prime Minister was revoked before the February 16th 2015 General Elections over concerns the US Government has regarding the management of the Citizenship by Investment Programme

WINN FM’s Ken Richards reported that “the Americans are quoted as saying that the timing of the revoking of the visa was not done to deliberately coincide with the election campaign, but was the result of a gradual process. “

Dr. Denzil Douglas has refuted the claims that his US VISA was revoked by the Americans  and described  as “bogus” the graphic used in a Times Caribbean story that broke the news regarding the revocation .  Times Caribbean confirms that the photo used was in fact “bogus” as it was simply a graphic that was extracted from the internet as an illustration. The Photo is clearly captioned “FILE PHOTO-Not Actual Visa”

Douglas went on to state that the whole story is untrue and simply an effort to tarnish his reputation.

In the meantime the ruling Team UNITY Administration have yet to issue an official statement regarding the matter. However Prime Minister Dr. Timothy Harris did comment on the revocation of the VISA by the US government when he addressed his constituents in a townhall styled meeting in the village of Tabernacle on Wednesday.

The Prime Minister Dr. Harris told the audience “The United States, the most powerful country in the world; determined that Denzil Douglas was improper and unfit to be accorded a U.S. diplomatic visa and it is a shame and scandal for any national leader to have had such a condemnation put on him.”

In a comment made to another St.Kitts-Nevis based media house Prime Minister Harris described the revocation of the US Visa by the Americans as   ““indeed a sad occasion””.

Dr. Denzil Douglas has been at the center of a myriad of scandals which have resulted in the heightened scrutiny by the US Government and the withdrawal of a VISA Waiver for SKN Nationals by the Canadian Government.

His 20 year rule of St.Kitts-Nevis came to an end on February 16th when a Dr. Timothy Harris led Opposition Alliance known as Team UNITY were swept into power with a near landslide victory. Douglas was seeking to be the first Prime Minister to win a successful fifth straight term in Office.

  1. As a national of st. Kitts it was hartning to see elected officials and there friends grow fat whike the people of st. Kitts and Nevis went hungry, lost there jobs, a good friend of mine robbed a gastation just to give his daughter a gift for her birthday when me duglas could afford to put millions on an account for his son, shear behind worst than share infront. I only wish that this government would consider giving my good friend a second chance. It was unfortunate that Mr Gilbert had to die but when people are hungry and desparat they do desparate things.
