Legendary Former St.Kitts-Nevis National Team Captain and recently retired MLS Professional Atiba Harris is calling on the SKNFA not to allow Presidential hopefuls to use the National Team and upcoming engagements to boast their personal bids or campaigns for the coveted Presidential spot. The SKNFA elects a New Executive this Summer and Atiba Harris leads a group of contenders vying for the position. Harris made his clarion call for the National Team to be free of any blatant or subtle campaigning by hopefuls who include current SKNFA Executive members. It is been widely speculated that members of the current SKNFA executive who are vying for the Presidency and the other positions are planning to use upcoming engagements by the National Team as a platform of sorts for their Presidential and Executive Campaign

In a statement issued on Social Media Harris declared “Our Sugar Boyz🇰🇳 will be coming up against Guyana and Trinidad & Tobago in 2 very important matches on June 4th & 7th respectively, in an attempt to top the group and advance to the 2nd round (June 12th & 15th) of the Concacaf World Cup Qualifiers for Qatar 2022. This is a golden opportunity for Our Sugar Boyz🇰🇳 to advance and make our country proud. This is a time where we should put Country Above Self. So, I’m appealing to anyone who’s going to run for the SKNFA presidency, myself included, to stay clear of Our National Team. Do not go to any training camps or travel with the current national team for these crucial matches as this could provide a major distraction for our players and cause them to underperform. This is the perfect opportunity to delegate positions to top performing executives from member clubs. We need our players and technical staff to fully concentrate on delivering the necessary results for our beloved country during this time. Anyone with moral integrity who truly cares about our football and its advancement should avoid any conflict of interest and not use Our National Team for personal gain and campaign. #raisethestandardskn #sknpositive #sugarboyz #countryaboveself ⚽️❤️🇰🇳🙌🏾!”

Atiba Harris created much excitement when  announced his intention to vie for the SKNFA Presidency in 2020. Excitement and anticipation heightened even more when he retired earlier this year and gave a clear indication of his commitment to raising not just the level of Football but also the level of Football Administration not only in St.Kitts-Nevis but in the Caribbean .
