PREMIER PRIDE! SP lions extinguishes Fireballs in nail biter to advance to A-Division Finals and punch it’s 2017 PREMIER ticket!

 

SANDY POINT, St. Kitts (11th August, 2016): – Before the series, after a Game 1 victory, and before the contest on Thursday night with the FireBalls, Coach Rambo was the epitome of calm.

Despite being on the cusp of making SKNABA league history, despite looking to extend it’s 2016 season campaign to a perfect 16-0, the band of brothers needed only remind their themselves that they’ve been here before, they overcame adversity and questionable decisions all season and they were ready to do it again!

Even though it was their first potential series clinching game of a playoff series, the young lions from Sandy Point would not be denied!

“You can be nervous, you can be overhyped, you can be excited,” said Rameese of his team’s historic win over a pesky Conaree Fireballs. “But the thing is you just remind yourself its a game. Keep it simple. Keep playing till the final buzzer”

His confidence and calm during the game translated to PRIDE advancing to not only the finals of the A-division but they also became the first team bearing the words ‘Sandy Point’ to advance to the leagues Premier league! Even though his team trailed most of the first half, they were unfazed when it counted.

The irrepressible Chavez ‘Beto’ Belboda took charge early and often with 22 points 8 rebounds 3 assists and was supported by the experience of his co-captains Taslin ‘Curry-Wade’ Belboda (16pts 10 rebounds 9 assists 4 steals) and Sheeno ‘Jeezy’ Liddie (14 points 23 rebounds 3 blocks). Both players were particularly strong in the third quarter while the team also enjoyed strong all around performances from Miguel ‘Sought Out’ Browne (13points 10 rebounds 3 assists) and junior league champion Secada Garroden who added 13 huge rebounds.

The PRIDE overcame a three-point halftime deficit, outscored Conaree by 7points in the third quarter then held off the surging Fireballs for a 81-80 victory at Basketball City Thursday night. By using just two 2 games to dismiss it’s opponent, the undefeated ballers has earned a date in the SKNABA A-Division Finals with the Achievers WolfPack, with game 1 expected to take place in the next few days.
