December 8, 2018 (St. Croix, USVI)
Marvelus has just released the much-anticipated new video for International Soca Recording Artist, “Kylo”; “Big Jam”, premiered 12/8/2018 on Julians Promo TV. This break out Virgin Islands anthem had promised to catapult the artist into super-stardom. The upbeat collaboration perfectly showcases Kylo’s fun-natured lyrics and rhythmic timing. Written by Marvelus & Monea, and recorded by Kylo & Monéa, the single is Mixed and Mastered by Marvelus Production Team ( MPT) . Last Night,12/7/2018, it debuted to an audience of over 400 fans gathered in the Aqua Lounge in St. Croix, USVI. The new video was filmed in Atlanta, Georgia by Adam O and Narcisse of Nova Elite Audio.
Kyle “Kylo” Sylvestor , lead singer of Stylee Band and former St. Croix Soca Monarch , made history by winning both distinguished Crucian Christmas Carnival Soca Monarch titles in January 2017, 11 months later he was killed in a plane crash in St. Croix, along with four other passengers. An iconic figure, Kylo left a major vacancy in the Virgin Islands Soca scene and has been honored nationally for the enduring legacy that he leaves behind. The city of Atlanta issued an official Proclamation to honor his life and commend his outstanding contributions to music, stating that “Kylo was a proud son of the soil from the Virgin Islands whose musical career spanned a decade” (Proclamation, Atlanta City Council, May 2018). His single, “Big Jam”, became a breakout hit during the Uber Soca Cruise in October: now playing on radio stations and air waves from St. Thomas to Trinidad and Tobago. The entire “Mi And é m Riddim” was originally released on November 21, 2017, and also included contributions from Virgin Islands Soca Artists Adam O & Mystro, BugZBugs & Saraiyana, and Big Shaw & RainMan.
While he will be missed by both friends and fans alike, this new visual of him will provide a lasting glance of his greatness. It sends a reminder to the world of the talent that the Virgin Islands offers and their contributions made to the Soca music market. Monéa, who provides her talent on the track, is originally from Tortola, BVI and is currently on tour in the USVI. In October 2018, she released her debut album Tropikana Vol 1: An Island Love Story. Monéa’s music can be found on all music streaming platforms including Apple Music, Spotify & Tidal. Her recent hits include ‘Lucky One’ ft. Pressure Busspipe and Timo of R. City; and ‘Gypsy’ (2018, MPT Production).
