Basseterre, St.Kitts (February 5, 2016):- Opposition Labour Party Candidate Dr. Terrance Drew has joined with the Ruling St.Kitts-Nevis Team UNITY Government in a call for young men of St. Kitts and Nevis to bring the prevalence of gun violence to an end.
In the wake of recent murders Prime Minister Dr. Timothy Harris made a passionate plea to the people of the nation and in particular young men to end the senseless violence in the country.
Dr. Terrance Drew expressed similar sentiments via social media.
“I encourage our young men to choose peace over violence. Negativity only hurts you, your family, our community and by extension, our nation on a whole,” said Dr. Drew in a statement on his Facebook page on Sunday.
The statement was issued shortly after the discovery of the decomposing body of Devon Percival of St. Peter’s..
“Another young life has been lost through violence. These devastating words should not become part of our daily conversations. The recent upsurge in criminal activity breaks my heart,” said Dr. Drew.
Drew used the opportunity to extend sincere condolences to the family of the deceased, the affected families in Cayon as well as the other grieving families.
In an effort to reach out to the young men and women involved in this anti-social and criminal behaviour a Concert dubbed SOUNDS OF PEACE has been planned for Friday February 19th at the Circus. The event is expected to bring together a number of top local artistes who will all be bringing a message of Love, Peace and Unity. And to a message to STOP THE VIOLENCE. See Something Say Something. The event starts at 5pm
