New Workers Union Registered in St.Kitts-Nevis

New Trade Union Comes On Stream

St Kitts and Nevis (WINN): A recently registered trade union is hoping to attract a significant number of workers in the federation. The United Workers Union was registered on January 28, and expects to begin signing on members this month. Its president Alwali Mohammed says the new union is coming on stream because those behind the initiative see a clear need for a greater level of representation for workers in St Kitts and Nevis than is available at the moment. “The current Trades and Labour Union has lost its sting as a result of its political affiliation and workers are not being represented as effectively and efficiently as they should and so we saw the need based on consultation and from our own experience and so that is why we came up with the union to fill that void and vacuum that current employees are looking for.” Read More
