WATCH: Danny has strengthened to become the first hurricane of the Atlantic season
MIAMI, Aug 20 2015 – Danny today became the first hurricane of the 2015 Atlantic season, prior to heading into the Caribbean.
The system became a tropical depression on Tuesday morning and a tropical storm Tuesday afternoon.
Danny could maintain hurricane status into this weekend as it continues to move through generally favorable atmospheric conditions.
Danny is currently about 1,200 miles east of Windward and Leeward islands.
