News Americas, NEW YORK, NY, Tues. Dec. 8, 2015: Several Latin American and Caribbean musicians yesterday received the prestige of being named 2016 Grammy nominees.

Among them were several reggae artists from the Caribbean as well as Trinidad-born rapper, Nicki Minaj, who received four nominations including Best Rap Album for ‘PinkPrint;” Best Rap Performance for ‘Truffle Butter’ featuring Drake; Best Rap/Sung Collaboration for ‘Only’ featuring Drake, Lil Wayne and Chris Brown and Producer Of The Year, Non-Classical for “ B**** I’m Madonna,” featuring Madonna.

Other Caribbean and Latin nominees are:

• Gilberto Gil of Brazil for Gilbertos Samba Ao Vivo who is up in the Best World Music Album Category.
• Jamaica’s Jah Cure’s ‘The Cure,’ Barrington Levy’s ‘Acousticalevy;’ Luciano’s ‘Zion Awake’ and Morgan Heritage’s Strictly Roots’ up for Best Reggae Album.
• Cuban Canadian Alex Cuba for ‘Healer,’ and Puerto Rico’s Ricky Martin for ‘A Quien Quiera Escuchar (Deluxe Edition)’ – up for Best Latin Pop Album.
• Colombia’s Monsieur Periné and Bomba Estereo and Mexico’s Natalia Lafourcade – up for Best Latin Rock, Urban Or Alternative Album.
•  Best Large Jazz Ensemble Album – Cuba the Conversation Continues by Mexico’s Arturo O’Farrill & The Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra

Best Regional Mexican Music Album (Including Tejano)

This year’s GRAMMY Awards process registered more than 21,000 submissions over a 12-month eligibility period (Oct. 1, 2014 – Sept. 30, 2015).

Kendrick Lamar led this year’s nominations with 11, followed by Taylor Swift and The Weeknd, who each earned seven.

The 58th Annual GRAMMY Awards will be held on Feb. 15, 2016, at Staples Center in Los Angeles and broadcast live on CBS from 8–11:30 p.m. (ET/PT).
